How To Get To Zeballos

By Land:

The turnoff from the Island Highway (Highway 19) to Zeballos is located just north of Woss, about 390 kilometers north of Victoria. The 40 km gravel logging road is well-maintained and continues beyond Zeballos to Fair Harbour. Along the way watch for logging trucks, and bears, deer and elk crossing the road. There is no public transport to Zeballos. However,  Zeballos Expeditions provides ground transportation to Zeballos from a number of points on Vancouver Island.

By Sea:

BC Ferries has scheduled departures from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo and Duke Point. The crossing by ferry is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. From the ferry terminus, road signs will direct you to connect with the Island Highway. Estimated driving time from Nanaimo to Zeballos is about 4 ½ hours.

By Air:

Flights are available directly from the South Terminal of the Vancouver Airport to Port Hardy Airport. Pacific Coastal Airlines provides scheduled flights to Port Hardy. At the Port Hardy Airport you will have to arrange a vehicle to transport you to Zeballos. The drive is approximately 2 hours long.

Plan Now for Summer

Wednesday, October 19 2011

While there is a bit of a stretch of winter creeping up, in not so many months summer will again reign supreme on Vancouver Island.  On the "Island", peak kayak season is from mid-July to the first week in August. This means almost all of our regular departures have filled up (we limit our groups to 8) and people who have waited a little longer to book are anxiously waiting for our word on cancellations. Sometimes we can deliver, sometimes we can’t.

Please don’t let this be you! Whether you’re booking for yourself or for a group, please book early for the summer of 2012.  While we take a 20% deposit, we don’t take the balance of your payment until 60 days out. Thus you can relax, knowing your kayak seat is safe and a great vacation is not far off.
