| Additional Information: This 6 day expedition is a circle tour of the Nuchatlitz Marine Park and the surrounding area. This region has a remote West Coast feel, with some long sandy beaches, weathered rock islands, waterfalls, kelp forests, rolling mountains in the background, and a chance to see wildlife including seabirds, seals, black bears, eagles, sea otters and humpback or gray whales. Sea otters were re-introduced to this region after being extirpated during the fur trade, and now this is one of the only regions in this part of the coast where sea otters are once again thriving in large numbers. Overall this tour explores one of the most spectacular places to paddle in North America, and guests get to experience the true wilderness of the West Coast. |

Itinerary

Day
1On the night prior to the tour, guests gather together at the historic Heriot Bay Inn on beautiful Quadra Island for a pre-trip meeting to answer any last minute questions and to ensure that all guests have the right equipment for the tour. This meeting also gives guests a chance to talk to one of their guides, and to acquaint themselves with the other guests on the tour.
The next morning, on Day 1 of the tour, guests are picked up by our van at their accommodation on Quadra Island or Campbell River and are transported to our water taxi in Tahsis. Our boat transportation brings us right to the heart of the Nuchatlitz Islands where we can take a peaceful breath in and look around at the pristine surroundings. Once arriving at the beach we will pack our kayaks and go over the kayaking basics and essential safety procedures before heading off on our journey. Our first night will be spent somewhere out on one of the remote islands within the marine park.

2Days 2-5
On the Nuchatlitz Marine Park Tour there is no set itinerary, as we have plenty of time to explore. The route will depend on weather conditions and the groups desires. Our days will be spent exploring the picturesque islands, lagoons, sea caves hidden behind cascading waterfalls, and possibly a visit to the ancient middens or village sites of the Nuchalnulth First Nations. We will also take some time out for walks, beach combing, or simply lounging and absorbing the magnificent surroundings. If we are fortunate we will end our day with one of our famous west coast sunsets.

6This is our last day to enjoy the marine environment of the West Coast. On day 6, if weather permits, we will get the chance to go out for one last peaceful morning paddle, and after lunch our boat transport will pick us up and take us back to Tahsis. Approximate return time to Quadra Island / Campbell River is 7 pm.
